Currently recruiting a Registered Nurse (RN) - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Jacksonville, North Carolina, to provide care to Active Duty heroes, their family members, and retirees at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune. Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU shall normally provide Part-Time services for 12 -hour shifts and will be assigned shifts according to the following rotation during each 2-week period: Schedule may include 12 -hour shifts and one 8 -hour shifts. The Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU Part-Time shall provide services Sunday through Saturday including holidays. The 12 -hour shifts run 0700 to 1930 or 1900 to 0730. Each shift includes a -hour uncompensated meal break. Part-Time RN must work a minimum of 40 hours per pay period.

DUTIES OF THE REGISTERED NURSE (RN) - NICU (Part-Time):
  • Perform a full range of RN duties, including: triage; patient assessment and monitoring; appropriate nursing care, procedures, and treatments; execution of physicians orders; documentation of patient care and observations; and patient education and emotional support.
  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals.
  • Provide management of critical care newborns (hypoglycemia, r/o sepsis, jaundice, failure to thrive, respiratory distress, 30 weeks gestation or greater.
  • Provide intravenous management (fluids, antibiotics) through Peripheral and central line access (fluid, TPIV, drips, Medications).
  • Provide management of cardiac/apnea and central monitors.
  • Provide recovery of post c-section newborns (NRP as needed, shots, bath, assessment).
  • Perform lab draws; venous, arterial and capillary (CBC, Blood Cultures, PKU, bilirubin, dextrose).
  • Perform stabilization for transport of high-risk patients (intubation, ventilator management, umbilical venous catheter, umbilical arterial catheter).
  • Perform oxygen management functions through various levels of invasive and non-invasive means, (oxy hood, Oxygen Saturation monitors, Arterial Blood Gases).
  • Provide circumcision pain management and comfort measures.
  • Perform Orogastric feedings-maintain and delivery of feedings.
  • Administration of TPN (Total Parental Nutrition) through Central lines.
  • PICC line maintenance.
  • Provide monitoring and management of the hemodynamic status of obstetric and neonatal patients.
  • Operate and manipulate automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, and Clinical Information System (CIS)

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE REGISTERED NURSE (RN) - NICU:
  • Associates Degree of Nursing or higher
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In lieu of graduation from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited program, the nurse may be a graduate of a State Board of Nursing or accredited nursing educational program.
  • Possess a minimum of 2 years experience in a level II Neonatal ICU within the last 5 years.
  • Possess current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Possess current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any of the 50 States, DC, or U.S. Territories.
  • Prior to commencing service under this contract, RN shall attend a 2-hour lecture on IV certification. Contract nurses shall then obtain certifications (e.G., IV, medications and blood administration) in accordance with clinic nursing service and command policy not later than 60 days after commencement of services, including observation of three completed IV sticks during this time.
