Job Description
Currently recruiting a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer/Echocardiographer job opening working in San Diego, California to work in the Naval Medical Center San Diego Cardiology Department providing medical care for military members, retirees, and their families. The Cardiac Sonographer is a full-time position, four or five days per week (8-hr or 10-hr shifts), Sunday - Saturday between the hours of 6 a.M. To 8 p.M. All weekday, weekend, and holiday shifts are rotated with the other sonographers. We anticipate scheduling up to 2 Federal holidays per year.

DUTIES OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER:
- Perform 2-dimensional, M Mode, pulse wave Doppler, continuous-wave Doppler and color-flow Doppler, 3-dimensional and strain imaging during transthoracic echocardiography studies.
- Perform Exercise (Treadmill) and Pharmacologic (Dobutamine) Stress Echocardiograms to include optimal utilization of sonography contrast agents.
- Assist physicians in the performance of transesophageal echocardiograms.
- Assist in the educational mission of the Cardiology Department, through the teaching of cardiology fellows and cardiovascular technician (CVT)students in the performance of echocardiographic studies.
- Maintain accurate patient procedural records.
- Assist in the compiling and archiving records for procedures performed in both the Echocardiography and Ambulatory Electrocardiography Laboratory of the Cardiology Department.
- Possess a minimum of five years full time clinical experience as a Cardiac Sonographer within the preceding seven years in a clinical setting of comparable size and complexity.
- Provide proof of professional development through continuing education within the last 24 months.
- Possess a minimum of 7, 500 echo studies performed.
- Possess a minimum of 5000 hours instructing Echocardiograms either to CVT students or fellows.
- Possess Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography specializing in adult echo.
- U.S. Citizenship (required for access to Gov' t computer systems)
