Dental Lab Technician (Anaplastologist)
Job Description
Currently recruiting a Dental Lab Technician (Anaplastologist) to provide dental laboratory services at Naval Medical Center San Diego in San Diego, California. The Dental Lab Technician (Anaplastologist) will support Hospital Dentistry and work closely with professional dental staff in the fabrication and fitting of ocular restorations, facial prostheses, crowns, and fixed partial dentures. Services are provided Monday through Friday, normally between 7: 00 a.M. And 3: 00 p.M., with 8-hour shifts and a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. This position may be required to work on federally recognized holidays.
DUTIES OF THE DENTAL LAB TECHNICIAN (ANAPLASTOLOGIST):
- Support Hospital Dentistry at Naval Medical Center San Diego.
- Work closely with professional staff in fabricating and fitting ocular restorations, facial prostheses, crowns, and fixed partial dentures.
- Independently design, construct, and resolve difficult design and construction problems related to dental laboratory and anaplastology work.
- Perform dental laboratory procedures involving general laboratory work, removable prosthodontics, porcelain application, prosthesis finishing, and CAD/CAM design and milling, as applicable.
- Support fabrication and fitting activities requiring precision, technical skill, and close coordination with dentists and other clinical staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with dental providers regarding case progress, requirements, and completion status.
- Comply with infection control, safety, documentation, and patient privacy requirements applicable to the military treatment facility.
- Maintain a professional appearance and comply with all applicable facility policies, procedures, and training requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE DENTAL LAB TECHNICIAN (ANAPLASTOLOGIST):
- Must meet one of the following degree, certificate, or experience pathways:
- Associate Degree or Certificate, depending on the program.
- Certificate from Army, Air Force, or Navy Dental Laboratory Training through the Medical Education and Training Campus.
- Evidence of 2 or more years as a lab technician accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a licensed dentist or previous dental laboratory employer.
- Must have successfully completed a 2-year program of study and training in dental laboratory techniques approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association;or have a high school diploma if certified through an Army, Air Force, or Navy Dental Laboratory Training program.
- Must have 2 years of dental laboratory experience within the last 3 years in any of the following dental laboratory sections:
- General Laboratory.
- Removable Prosthodontics.
- Porcelain application / ceramist.
- Prosthesis finishing, metal and ceramic.
- CAD/CAM design and milling.
- Must have 5 years of experience as an anaplastologist.
- Must be able to complete required health, immunization, tuberculosis, and Hepatitis B screening requirements before providing services.
- Must be able to complete required background/security processes for access to a Navy and Defense Health Agency medical facility.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen for access to U.S. Government networks.
- Must comply with all applicable facility policies, procedures, training, safety, infection control, and documentation requirements.
