This position supports orthopedic patient care, clinical coordination, patient education, documentation, and performance improvement in a military medical center environment.




DUTIES OF THE REGISTERED NURSE:

• Provide a full range of nursing services consistent with education, training, experience, clinical privileges or credentials, and assigned orthopedic department duties.
• Perform patient assessments and support safe, effective care for orthopedic patients.
• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
• Administer medications, perform wound care, and provide individualized nursing interventions as appropriate.
• Obtain health histories and support patient care planning.
• Provide health promotion, counseling, and patient education.
• Communicate and collaborate with patients, families, providers, nurses, corpsmen, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and respond quickly in emergency patient situations.
• Maintain a level of productivity comparable with others performing similar services.
• Practice aseptic technique as necessary.
• Comply with infection control guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious waste and use of universal precautions.
• Function with awareness and application of safety procedures.
• Apply awareness of legal issues in patient care and manage situations in a reduced-risk manner.
• Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient and family rights within the Military Treatment Facility.

• Maintain documentation of treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE REGISTERED NURSE:

• Associate Degree of Nursing required.
• Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
• Minimum of one year of experience within the last two years as a Registered Nurse.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any U.S. Jurisdiction.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Must be able to complete required credentialing before providing services.
• Must be able to complete required health, immunization, tuberculosis, and Hepatitis B screening requirements before providing services.

The normal hours of work are Monday through Sunday, between the hours of 6: 45am to 7: 15pm and 6: 45pm to 7: 15am, including Federal Holidays (services performed on Federal Holiday shall result in alternate day off within the same pay period). RNs will normally work six (6) twelve (12) hour shifts and one (1) eight (8) hour shift in a two week period. DUTIES OF THE SUBSTANCE ABUSE/PSYCHIATRIC REGISTERED NURSE (RN-PSYCH):

Full-time, Monday - Friday between 7: 00AM and 4: 30PM. At WRNMMC, contract employees shall be required to work varying shifts (8 to 12 hours) weekdays in a two-week period. DUTIES OF THE REGISTERED NURSE CASE MANAGER (RN):

• The contracted RN shall provide the following services and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF and IAW JC guidelines to include, the following: Provide professional case management services at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) or Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH).
• Function as a member of a multidisciplinary team to meet individual and family comprehensive health needs. Duties involve planning, coordinating, facilitating, and evaluating health care, serving as an advocate for patient options and services.
• Utilize communication and available resources to promote quality and cost-effective outcomes, across the continuum of care.
• Serves as a clinical case manager and patient advocate, providing advanced practice clinical, administrative, and organizational skills in managing the continuity, access, and provision of care services for complex and defined patients, to include catastrophic and end-of-life patient populations.
• Responsible for identification and management of patients with targeted, high risk and high cost diagnoses.
• Independently perform difficult and complex assessment, review, coordination, planning, monitoring, evaluation and analysis of cases.

• Represent the case management service, on or before, a variety of committees, boards, agencies, and concerned groups, as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE REGISTERED NURSE CASE MANAGER (RN): Degree/Education:

DUTIES OF THE PSYCHOLOGIST:

• Provides direction and oversight to multidisciplinary team in the implementation and management of an integrated mental health treatment program.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Graduate from an associate, baccalaureate, or graduate nursing program for Registered Nurses located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. Territory accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
• Minimum one year of professional experience as a licensed registered nurse in a hospital, medical office or residential setting.
• Experience in a detention/correctional healthcare setting preferred.

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

• Current, full and unrestricted license as Registered Nurse in the state in which the duty station is located, or a compact state that allows practice in the state in which the duty station is located. Any changes to license must be reported to employer immediately.
• This position does not require privileging by IHSC.
• Maintains BLS for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association .
• Certified Correctional Health Professional, Certified Correctional Health Professional Registered Nurse, or Certified Corrections Nurse credential preferred, not requied.

DUTIES OF THE LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN/LVIN):

• Experience in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting preferred.
